Taylor Rights Some Wrongs

Nate’s phone buzzed in the middle of breakfast. He tuned out the Brothers’ chatter and unlocked the screen, glancing at the news headline.

Next to him, Taylor stiffened. “Damn it.”

“What happened?” Wilkie asked across the large, round dining table in his and King’s mansion.

The breakfast conversation around them drew to a halt; everyone glanced at Wilkie, and followed his gaze to Nate and Taylor.

“They overturned the ruling,” Nate said. “Restrictions on omega reproductive rights.”

The topic had been drifting in and out of the news for a while. Some people seemed to think it would go away on its own. It had been something they’d maybe all taken for granted, because omegas had had the rights to their own bodies for decades.

And now, because of some fanatics in the courts, they were going to lose it.

Wilkie paled. “That’s… That’s not good,” he said weakly. “Not that I would choose to lose a baby now, but…”

But he’d been on the brink of it, years ago, because his ex had coerced him into sex, gotten him pregnant, and then cheated on him.

His alpha, King, narrowed his eyes and directed his question to Nate and Taylor. “What’re you going to do about it?”

Nate had things to say about it, but he wasn’t an omega. He wasn’t the one whose rights had been taken away. He glanced at Taylor, who’d gritted his teeth.

“I’ll clean it up,” Taylor said lowly, calmly, his fury so suppressed that he was a marvel to witness. “I have a list of names. Feel free to suggest additions.”

Phinny set down his fork, his eyes narrowed. “I’ll pay for it.”

“I’ll split it with you,” King said immediately.

“Me, too,” Elliot added, his forehead crinkled.

Gage and Ulric exchanged a look. “How much…?” Gage asked, frowning. It made sense that he was affected—he was Wilkie’s older brother. And it heartened Nate to see Gage’s concern for his sibling. “Ulric and I can probably take out a loan…”

Phinny huffed and patted his shoulder. “I hate to say it, Gage, but it’s okay to just be supportive in this. Taylor’s services are not something a regular person can easily afford.”

“Honestly? I’d even do it for free.” Taylor pulled out his phone, tapped on a few things, and held it up. “These are the names. The list will not exist after today.”

As he passed his phone around, Nate told Gage, “We could use some babysitting, actually. And an alibi.”

Gage and Ulric perked up. “We can do that.”

“You’re going with Taylor?” King asked.

“Yeah. I like to provide backup just in case,” Nate said. “It’s nice to have more than one set of eyes.”

“Or maybe you just want to check that they’re really dead,” Taylor said dryly.

Nate smiled. “Maybe pull the trigger twice, just in case.”

“Shoot them in the balls,” Phinny suggested. “Pop them with your heels.”

A few of the alphas at the table cringed.

“Sure,” Taylor said, flippant.

King shot Nate a look that said, I have the deepest respect for you to have married your omega.

Nate shrugged. He and Taylor were the same kind of person.

Phinny glanced at his phone. “Looks like it’s all over social media now,” he said, his shoulders tensing. “Omegas across the country are worried. I hate that no one has stopped it before now. Only the vilest life forms take away human rights. They should’ve been jailed a long time ago.”

“They’ll continue to take more rights away, if this goes on,” Nate said. He’d discussed it on several occasions with Taylor; they’d already come up with different ways to handle the situation.

“I’m afraid everyone will have to wait a few more days while I finalize the plans,” Taylor said.

Wilkie looked up, still shaken. “Then things will get better?”

“They will get better,” Taylor promised.

Nate stood back in their arsenal, watching keenly as Taylor pulled out a couple of long-barreled rifles. Then Taylor grabbed two concealable pistols, and another two bigger guns.

His omega didn’t need help, and Nate didn’t offer any—Taylor would be offended if he did. So he followed Taylor out to the living room, testing their headsets and double-checking their other supplies.

Taylor dismantled the rifles with practiced ease and slipped them into his duffel. Like he always was before a job, there was a single-minded focus to his actions, a quiet fury that said those criminals would pay. Nate saved all his appreciation for later.

They drove to the small airport just outside Meadowfall where their small, rented airplane was parked. Nate checked in with the airport staff, and Taylor loaded the plane.

With Nate piloting, they flew across the country to another small airport, landed, and rented a car—all with the fake IDs Nate had acquired.

It took a couple of hours to get to where the small meeting was being held. Before they left the vehicle, they pulled on realistic masks, in case there were cameras around. Taylor slid more guns onto his person.

“Ready?” Nate asked.

“I was ready last week.”

They slipped out of the car and made their way to the building they’d pinpointed. Through the windows, he glimpsed those elderly alphas raising glasses and toasting each other.

Anger boiled in Nate’s veins; Taylor’s eyes flashed with venom.

The best place for criminals to be, was six feet underground.

Wordlessly, they parted ways to scout the building.

“All clear,” came Taylor’s tinny voice in his ear.

“All clear,” Nate answered. “Go ahead.”

Taylor picked the lock deftly and slipped in. Nate checked that no one had noticed them, and slipped in after him.

The celebratory sounds stopped when Taylor opened the door.

“Who are you?” one of the alphas said. Sounded like Bob Bobbington.

“No one of note.” Taylor clicked off the safety on his gun, and over his shoulder, Nate saw the fear in those alpha’s faces.

Bob tried to sneer. “You think you can stop us, omega?”

Taylor shot him in the head with a muffled ‘pop’, and he went down.

The other three alphas began to scramble then, backing away, their wine glasses smashing on the floor. Taylor got another in the back of the head. The third, right in the eye.

The last alpha tried to hold his stance. “You won’t get us all. We’ll put you back in your place.”

Taylor scoffed and strode right up to him, pressing the barrel up under his chin. “I have a great view from here.”

He broke the man’s jaw with a shot, but not enough to kill. The alpha went down to his knees, and Taylor backhanded him with the butt of the gun.

“So,” Taylor said. “Which of your friends is going to save the day?”

The alpha began wheezing some names—a few that Nate hadn’t thought to investigate, actually. Until the man realized why Taylor had asked. “Fuck off, you—you little bitch—”

Taylor brought his heel down on the man’s nose, and broke his neck with a swift kick.

They checked the entire building for any accomplices or escapees—there were none. Nate collected the alphas’ phones and dropped them into a plastic bag.

Then, they stopped by their second location for the night, where they found a few alphas gathered around the TV, in one of the alphas’ homes. They were cheering, cans of beer between them. “Those omegas are gonna be under our control,” one of them said. “Like they should’ve been a long time ago.”

The alphas jumped to their feet when Taylor opened the door quietly, a couple of them pulling guns out of their pockets.

Taylor shattered their wrists with well-placed shots, even before they could fire.

Nate snuck in a shot just because he could. That alpha went down heavily, too.

Like before, they kept one alpha alive. Taylor stalked over to the gasping man, who had blood dripping out of his mouth. “Can you still talk?” His foot connected with the alpha’s stomach.

“Fuck you,” the alpha wheezed.

“No, thanks.” Taylor brutalized his face. “But tell me which friends are going to carry on your legacy.”

Like before, the alpha began rattling off names. “Bob, he’s—”

“Yeah, he’s dead,” Taylor said. “Give me another one.”

“Tom C—”

“That one’s also dead.”

“Fuck!” The alpha spat at him; Taylor grabbed his head, and yanked it backwards until his vertebrae separated.

Damn, he’s hot.

Nate left Taylor to grab the phones; he scouted out the rooms to check for witnesses.

It was only when they’d dropped off the rental car, that Nate and Taylor sat at a park bench, going through the phones. Nate downloaded the phones’ data onto a laptop; Taylor poked around in the messages, and sent off a few texts.

“We’ll have to come back on my next day off,” Nate said. “Looks like there are quite a few more to terminate.”

“They may go into hiding now.”

Nate only grinned. “Hunting them down is the fun part, isn’t it?”

Taylor smiled back.

”Tensions rise as more justices are found dead in their homes,” the newscaster said. ”Over the last four weeks, several alphas in positions of power…”

King shot Nate a look. “Huh.”

“I know nothing.”

“We’re in the process of getting their websites taken down,” Taylor said, rubbing down a dismantled pistol with his cleaning cloth. “I hope Wilkie is feeling better.”

“He is.” King breathed a sigh of relief. “Thanks.”

“Don’t thank us until we’re done,” Taylor added.

Nate stretched out beside his omega. “The good news is, we’re fairly sure we’ve found them all. Just keeping a few alive to listen in on their chats. Perks of gaining access to their personal conversations.”

“We’ll be on the lookout for any whispers anyway,” Taylor said.

“And now we can finally get some good laws in, I hope.” King rubbed his chin.

“We will,” Taylor answered. “We have ears in the system. We’ll have some better laws set into motion soon.”

Nate exhaled deeply, too. Now that there was a bit less evil in the world, things felt a lot lighter. Sure, they hadn’t done it by completely legal means. And sure, there were probably still some loose ends left to tie up. But the outpouring of relief from omegas everywhere had made it all worth it.

“I’m glad there’s people like you both around,” King said after a while. “Not everyone has the power to erase bad things.”

Nate wrapped his arm around Taylor, pulling him closer. “It’s all thanks to this man, really.”

Taylor gave a small smile. “And our job is never done.”

King smiled back. “I bet. Anyway, I gotta get back to Wilkie. He’s waiting for news.”

“I guess that’s all you’re getting from us, then. Nate walked him to the door, smiling when Crumbs barked across the street. “Say hi to the fam for us.”

“Will do.” King waved.

Nate wandered back, admiring how his omega put together his semi-automatic as easily as breathing. “Have I mentioned how hot you are, Tay?”

Taylor looked up and snorted. “I’m surprised no one knows about your gun kink yet.”

Nate hauled him to his feet. “Oh well. Time for some omega-appreciation time. Don’t leave that behind.”

Taylor tucked his weapon into his hip holster with an eye-roll and a smile. “Of course not.”
