In his little nest, Emmy has everything he wants–snacks, trinkets, paper he uses to leave Varrick notes, because Varrick thinks he’s being haunted by a ghost called Dicky Mems.
Emmy is happy to keep up that pretense. Only he can’t help himself; he peeks at that alpha in the shower, he laughs at Varrick’s jokes. He sneaks downstairs to pull the covers over Varrick when he sleeps, because Varrick seems so lonely sometimes.
And maybe Emmy is lonely, too.
Nah.
Varrick is dangerous. He could very well put Emmy in jail the moment Emmy slips up; it’s his word against a homeless omega’s. And with the fluttery feelings Varrick gives him, Emmy is starting to realize that he doesn’t want to call any other place Home.
